If you have a picture of drawing that would be awesome. On the 2016 2.0 the cylinder head temperature sensor is located on the rear of the cylinder head towards the passenger side. Remove plastic engine cover. Remove battery cover. Remove the plastic pipe coming from the air box and connecting to the turbo inlet and move it out of the way.
So if the gauge reads low it is likely to be the sensor, if the gauge reads very hot, then it may be something else. But also check the filler cap pressure release. The fan may need about 100C to come on, which will need the system to be pressurised. A dodgy cap can let the water out before it reaches fan temperature.
@HowIFixedIt Ford Edge cooling fan stays on and kills the battery. Bad cooling fan is very possible as well. Replacement of both should be done. Location and
33,596 POSTS. The sensor is telling you the engine temperature is too high. First you have to determine what affects the overheating. If speed is a contributing factor, and the overheating only occurs at low speeds, suspect the radiator fan is not turning on. That is not needed at higher speeds where natural air flow is sufficient.
How do I replace the transmission temp sensor? I'm throwing code p1783. Engine: 3.0L. Transmission 6 speed semi automatic. Miles ~115k; Bought @ 53k. Had regular transmission flushes since then. Last one late 2015 @ maybe 70k. Have never replaced engine coolant but most mechanics have told me they don't even do that.
